In the very near future my memoir will be published in book form. I'm so excited at the prospect of actually holding it in my hands. Shame I didn't have it earlier. I could have saved myself sixty pounds.
In my last post I was imagining my friend Shirley handing the brand new Kindle purchased specially for the occasion and containing my memoir to Ellen at her show. In reality I knew it probably wouldn't happen like that. In the event, disappointingly for my friend and for me, she didn't even make it to the show. An employee at Universal Studios told her he's been trying to get into the audience for three years, and hasn't managed it yet.
However Shirley wasn't ready to give up on my dream and her mission. She ended up
mailing the Kindle to Ellen from the Universal Studios. Thanks so much for your input Shirley. Oh, and apart from that, I'm so glad you found the time to have a wonderful holiday.
Thanks to another good friend Audrey, who both formatted my memoir for Kindle and is now doing the same for the paperback, we are also hoping to include some family photos in the book. Depending on the quality of the images, we hope to put them into the Kindle version too, which can be downloaded again for free, if already purchased.
I am busy contacting lots of people and groups, and am beginning to get some interest in reading and reviewing my memoir. I'm hoping that having it in real book form will give it a little more cache, and persuade reviewers to take an interest.
In the meantime I still dream of opening my emails and seeing one from Ellen. I'm not ready to let go of that dream just yet.
