Hi, I'm Sandra McCay.
I'm Scottish, Jewish, mother of two, grandmother (bubbe) and, more recently, author. Having retired from teaching, I now divide my time between Scotland and Spain, where I teach Spanish kids English. I also attend Spanish/English language interchange groups, and volunteer at a bank of time project, so I keep pretty busy. My Spanish is coming along poco a poco. (little by little).
I love comedy in all shapes and forms, theatre, cinema, poetry and I am an avid reader.
At seventeen years of age, my daughter Lila came out and now, seventeen years later, my book is following suit. " Oy Vey, My Daughter's Gay" is an honest, humorous, yet emotional account of the roller-coaster ride that has been my life as the mother of a gay daughter. Writing the book has been a journey in itself. It has brought my husband and I closer to our wonderful daughter and each other, and has finally forced us to face and resolve some difficult memories. It has been an emotional journey. We have laughed and we have cried together. I am so proud of us. Buy the book here.
