The big day has finally come. My book is now available on Amazon, and what a weird and wonderful feeling it is. I wondered if I would ever get to this moment, as I've been editing right up to the last minute, including whilst my long suffering friend was trying to format it. I was so excited to finally press the 'publish' button. I gave a huge sigh of relief, knowing that it was out of my hands at last, What a strange day it was. I experienced so many emotions: relief, giddiness, elation, disbelief, and finally fear -what if nobody buys it? What if they buy it and give it poor reviews?
Today it is the day after publication. The celebratory glass of champagne has been drunk, and the celebration dinner has been eaten. Now what? Happily my eponymous daughter has sparked into action with online promotion and kept my excitement levels up, but even the immediate gratification that comes from Twitter followers' responses has hit a, hopefully temporay, lull.
I am anxiously awaiting my first review. I so hope it's good. I have put so much of myself into this book. Writing a memoir is a different experience from writing fiction. It's hard putting your life out there for others to judge. On the other hand it's been a cathartic experience for me and my family. It has brought me much closer to my daughter, and helped me understand her life.
In the meantime, if you would like to interview me or cover the book, just let me know what I can do to help.
